Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news outlet, is a television personality author, author and charitable donor. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family at 16 years old. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. She was the first person who was not from the UK to serve as president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. When she graduated, she made her name as a conservative syndicated columnist and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which offered critical observations about the current political climate. Her popularity helped her to convince several stars to voice their views on current events, political and culture. Arianna became famous after she made the decision in 2003 to stand as an independent Candidate for the California Recall Election in order to succeed the former governor Davis. Alongside this, she was the leader of an Detroit initiative to encourage vehicles that are fuel efficient. Her name was voted as the most Influential Women in Media by Forbes in 2009 and was awarded 12th position on that list. That same year Guardian named her on the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became the president of this group. It included a variety of AOL products at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was her bond with her mother that formed her life. Through her early period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which are still prominently known. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and a television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
