April Ross

April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players to capture medals at many Olympics. In Tokyo during the coming days, she'll attempt to win her third gold medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than her initial Olympic medal. And at the age of 39 this may be her last opportunity to accomplish this. But she is confident that the most important medals are at hand. If we do our best or even play properly, I'm sure we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. In addition, I'm planning to play a bit of fortunate. Ross born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started participating in sports at the Newport Harbor High school. Ross participated in various sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete, she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. In the last sport, she clearly stood out. Based on her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court throughout her high school career. To honor her effort she was awarded the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman have been playing together since 2017, the former had already been a major star on the beach long before their pairing. She has been an active player on the beach scene for many years. Ross actually had won several championships, including one with a famous volleyball superstar. From 2007 to 2013, she was working with Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Along together with Kessy Ross was awarded an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing in the international circuit. They were awarded a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings took home the gold. As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They were awarded the bronze medal at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics 2016. In high school and the some time before hitting the beach as a professional Ross was a ball for the USC Trojans as an NCAA. The time she spent at USC was exceptional. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans advance to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal defeat in her sophomore year, but she still repeated in the ranks of an All-American. The last two years as a player, she steered the Trojans up the hill, capturing successive national titles. Individually She established her spot as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the most outstanding female player of the year in America. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball world. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. However, she continues to cherish her missing parent with love and close. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her, in and out on the beach.
